Satintone calcined extenders and reinforcements increase performance and reduce costs in a wide range of products in the inks, paints, coatings, rubber and plastics industries. In fact, they are used universally in latex and solvent-borne paints because of their excellent balance of performance and cost efficiency. Engelhard offers many Satintone product grades, spanning a wide range of particle sizes, brightness levels and morphologies (particle shapes), to help customers achieve the right combination of properties for their application needs. In paint applications, for example, Satintone calcined aluminosilicates are known for their good hiding, tint strength and scrub resistance, especially in flat and eggshell wall paints. In rubber and plastic applications, Satintone products increase stiffness and dimensional stability and enhance heat, electrical and chemical resistance.
Satintone Grades
Satintone® Whitex: fine particle size, high brightness grade widely used in flat architectural exterior/interior paints as an opacifying extender and in traffic paints for abrasion resistance, and many polymer applications for reinforcement and titanium dioxide extension.
Satintone Mattex: fine particle size, high brightness grade recommended for interior/exterior architectural coatings where excellent touchup and low sheen are required.
Satintone OP: fine particle size, standard brightness grade used in applications demanding a high degree of opacity and high tint strength without high whiteness.
Satintone SP-33: fine particle size, low brightness grade specially designed for use as an acid scavenger and reinforcement in medium to high-voltage PVC wire insulation compounds.
Satintone Special: fine particle size, high brightness grade recommended for flat coatings requiring higher whiteness and good opacity, flat paints, and polyester gel coats.
Satintone 5HB: ultrafine particle size, high brightness grade used as a titanium dioxide extender in flat and satin paints and for reinforcement in rubber and plastic compounds.
Satintone Plus: fine particle size, high brightness grade recommended for use in high
